Haaga-Helia: Big Data-Big Business

The purpose of Finland's big data project (2017-2019) is to find market opportunities through the collection and analysis of big data in the B2B market, and then establish relevant entrepreneurial projects in a targeted manner.

The implementation of this project relies on a multidisciplinary team: big data researchers, marketing and innovation talent, quantity and quantitative analysts, empirical analysts, and more.

  • This project will improve the level of big data application analysis and help entrepreneurs find new business opportunities in the B2B market.
  • Help companies improve their sales strategy and sales channels, save costs and improve efficiency.
Status

This project has been operating in Finland for two and a half years, and has about ten strategic partners from universities and research institutions in Finland, Belgium and Germany, and ample working capital. The investor is TEKES of Finland.

Haaga-Helia: NICCAP - Nordic Innovative Company Creation Acceleration Program

An innovation curriculum that facilitates accelerated international growth for newly established start-ups by providing networks, contacts, resources and skills.

Comprises of three consecutive multi-disciplinary and inter-generational hackathons and ideation camps that mix students from the participating countries / organizations with the purpose of creating new cross-border companies and expanding the boundary of the innovation ecosystem.

  • 850 students are exposed to entrepreneurship and challenges in the silver, green and blue economies;
  • 6 new cross-border companies with global potential to be created;
  • 15 existing early stage startups to be supported by the program;
  • 6 joint demo days for ecosystem partners;
  • 6 joint hackathon challenges are to be co-created with ecosystem partners;
  • Concrete roadmap with responsibilities and annual schedules for ecosystem engagement to be created.
Status

This project has been operating in Finland,and has about strategic partners from universities and research institutions in Finland. The investor is Interreg Central Baltic.

The Singaporean Government has listed immune cell therapy as its top priority in health care in 2020. The country has amassed substantial experiences in this regard. So is the US, where cancer is commonly treated with immune cell therapy.

NHC Health has overseas hospital partners standing ready to embark on AI-assisted immune cell therapy in China.

NHC Health is in discussion with Suzhou No. 9 Hospital in launching a project to tackle cancer with artificial intelligence (AI) and immune cell therapy.

Big Health Project - Smart Health app

A Chinese and English language app that matches nurses and health care professionals with patients, and offers 24X7 monitoring, analysis and recommendation.

NHC Health will partner with Mediconsult of Finland to build this app for the China market. Mediconsult's social and health services are already benefiting 170,000 citizens and 7,000 professionals in Finland.

About Us

Founder Profile

Edwin Ngoi is a serial entrepreneur with rich experience in the fields of healthcare, sports and education. He is Founder and CEO of NHC Health International Innovation Center (Suzhou) Co. Ltd, NHC Capital (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. and Venture E (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. He is a member of the Shanghai Singapore Business Association in Shanghai and also a member of the International Education Expert Council of Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences in Finland. He enjoys working in philanthropy projects and is a member of the Rotary International.

Prior to this, he held senior management positions at multinational companies such as Teradyne Singapore, BHP Lysaght Taiwan and China (Carrier, Whirlpool, Sara Lee and Lion Nathan China) and Singapore Tee Yih Jia (Baoding) Dairy Food.

He holds an EMBA from the University of San Francisco, an MBA from the University of Texas at Arlington, and a BBA in MIS from Idaho State University.

NHC Sports Space

We will bring Novel Opportunities for new Company Creation and Accelerated growth (NOCCA) from Finland to China, to drum up startup activities at first in Suzhou. This is a hackathon programme that has been operating for two years, involving students from Finland, Estonia and Latvia. The China version of NOCCA will be steered by Finnish experts and we will work with some local universities and polytechnics to participate in the "Hackathone".

We will work with Lab8 to apply VR, AR and MR in our winter sports. LAB8 is a combination of a sales Lab which does buyer-seller interaction analysis, and an eComLab which is a platform for consumer process detection and analysis. We will also use WeChat, Weibo and TV to broadcast and promote the Nordic winter sports in China.

Corporate Social Responsibility

We will work with Finland “Lean Services Creation” program to run our CSR Innovation so that we can train the college students or the early stage start-ups on their specific projects. We will try to ask our social enterprises to contribute part of the profit to the social cause they believe in. Our first CSR Innovation which will be one of the themes in 2019 R&D InnoCamp will be in May 2019. The focus of the CSR projects could be global mobile health, CSR start-ups for Roots of Peace Projects, health care or elderly care projects.

Roots of Peace Project – college start-ups

Objective: To train and mentor college start-ups who want to start a social enterprise in selling organic black pepper and organic black coffee to Chinese consumers in an innovative approach.

Target Audience: Limit to 50, 20 Overseas participants and 30 Chinese participants

Methodology: Using lean start-ups and design thinking approach to let the aspiring entrepreneurs know about how to start a business

Facilitator: Irmeli, expert in “Lean Service Creation”, Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences

Host: Jointly organized by NHCHealth International Innovation Center and Haaga-Helia Research and Development Innovation Center

Partners: HuqQiao Foundation, Roots of Peace, United Earths, Selected Universities and a few NGOs

Funding: The Chinese government will grants the college start-ups at RMB 50,000 per student to encourage them to become entrepreneurs. There are other resources they can approach later on once they set up the social enterprises.

Social Cause: We train Chinese graduates using the “lean service creation” program and help them to become entrepreneurs in the field they are interested. We will create an eco-system in entrepreneurship spirits among international start-ups and some of them might do social enterprises for the good of society.

United Earth

Objective: To create Earth Ethics Chapters to help Chinese High School and College Students facilitate President President Xi Jinping calling for an “ecological civilization” that ensures “harmony between human and nature.” To advance China’s leadership role in promoting Ecological Civilizations globally.

Target Audience: Chinese High School and College Students

Methodology: Internet based chapters for local students to study and publish localized progress on achieving progress towards an Ecolcogical Civilization.
